Day Five of Christmas Projects - Swimming Santa

We have cousins who have just put in an inground pool in their backyard. I knew I wanted to incorporate this exciting renovation in a Christmas card for them! To create the sentiment, I used the Cricut Explore write feature. I thought of a “pool pun” and had my machine write it out for me using a marker. The Explore then cut out the surrounding shape. I love being able to make my own card sentiments this way.

Be sure to come back on Day Six for a z-fold card.

Day Four of Christmas Projects - Mary and Joseph

Every year, I create at least one card that is more faith-based. Today's card is cut from the Cricut cartridge called Artfully Sent. This cartridge is chock full of wonderful cards and ideas. This cartridge is sold in a bundle with coordinating stamps and papers from Close to My Heart but it is while supplies last. Here is the link to my friend Brandy who can help you if you have any questions in regard to this cartridge or CTMH.

Day Three of Christmas Projects - Joyeux Narwhal

Isn’t this narwhal adorable? This cut is from the brand new Cricut cartridge called Makers Gonna Make, included with my Access Subscription. I love a good punny card! I hope my friends and family do too!

See you tomorrow for Day Four!

Day Two of Christmas Projects - Dogs and Santa

Our family is so in love with our rescue dog Chloe. She is 2 and a half years old and is so smart and loving. Here is a card for fellow dog lovers like us.

To create this window scene, I welded the curtains and dogs onto a rectangle.

Coming up tomorrow... a punny Christmas card. Be sure to pop in for Day Three of Christmas Projects.

Day One of Christmas Projects - Amazon card

Yay! My twelve days of Christmas projects is finally here! Welcome to Day One!

I saw this sentiment on a holiday shirt and thought it would make a funny card for one of my friends (who shall remain nameless).

I do love this card but it was quite fussy to glue all the letters so I only made one.

See you tomorrow for Day Two of Christmas Projects where I feature a card for dog lovers.

Recap of 2017 Christmas projects

Happy Black Friday! In Canada, we still have sales to shop at even though our Thanksgiving was in October. Hopefully, as you are reading this, I am out scoring the best Christmas gifts at rock bottom prices. At last, I am done making my holiday cards and will start posting them on Monday. (Woot! Woot!) To tide you over until then, here is a recap of my 2017 projects.

It feels like Christmas just looking at these crafts from last year! Be sure to stop in on Monday for Day One of Christmas Projects, an Amazon themed card. Yep. Amazon.

Making a knockout using Design Space

Last week, I saw a video tutorial on Facebook on how to do a knockout using the slice feature on Design Space. It looked pretty simple to do and IT WAS. I love how easy and neat this technique is. It is just a matter of placing the image over your text, slicing, removing the unwanted bits and then changing the colour of your initial slice. What I learned was, if you are using cuts that are small and finicky it's better to cut them larger. This is an A2 sized card and I had trouble glueing my hockey player so don't look too closely.

I need to make more cards using this technique.
