You sham-rock!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here is a quick treat for my kids. I didn't want to spend too much time on it as they will have eaten it faster than you can say, "leprechaun".

The most complicated part was figuring out rainbow coloured candy. These are Original Skittles and Berry Skittles to get the blue.

Breaking Bad birthday card

This winter has been so cold that we all have been watching a lot of Netflix. It seems like I am frequently discussing shows my friends and family are all watching. A big one around here has been Breaking Bad. This card is for a friend who loves the show.

Valentine for the hubs

Eek. The hubs is at work and I am making him a quick valentine card. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute.

Have a wonderful Valentines Day!

Vinyl cups

Why have I never put vinyl on cups before? It's so fun! A friend asked if I could personalize cups for her upcoming Mexico trip.

This was a good way to force me to learn how to use vinyl this way. I didn't have any transfer tape so I used a strip of painter's tape to help me with the placement.

Downhill ski layout with help from a sketch

This layout is of my son taking a downhill ski lesson. He was nervous about the whole barreling down a mountain/hill on skis thing... So we paid for private lessons for both kids. At the end of the day, it was worth every penny. They went from scared to confident and I have the pictures to prove it. The pictures turned out nicely even though they are from a cell phone. I accidentally brought an empty camera bag to the ski hill that day. *smacking head*

In trying to catch up on scrapbooking layouts, I have been making quick layouts with less Cricut cuts. I find a sketch makes it much quicker to put a layout together. This sketch is by Diana.

Google layout

Hello! I have been trying to scrapbook more layouts this year. Here is one I just finished.

I love scrapbooking birthdays, vacations and holidays but I also like to remember the funny moments. For instance, the day the Google camera car drove past us. My husband found the picture online and took a screenshot. The faces are blurred for everyone caught on Google Maps Streetview.

The Google logo and "search" button were very easy to create with Cricut Craft Room. The computer home page paper is by DCWV, The Generation Tech stack.

Scrapbooking = Happiness

I am a voracious reader. I am in a bookclub with some lovely ladies. I read for pleasure, I read for my bookclub and I read to scope out potential bookclub books. Every month, over wine and snacks we discuss our current selection as well as potentials for the future. That brings me to a potential book I am reading today. It is called, The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.

This book was written in 2009 so it has been around for awhile. I have carried this book to hockey practice, and a few strangers have told me how much they enjoyed it. Great conversation starter!

The author of this book spends a year using a variety of techniques to increase her happiness. As I am reading it, I keep thinking of my own life. One area I wanted to talk about was scrapbooking. She discusses her research into keeping a "treasure house of happy memories". She says that, "Studies show that recalling happy times helps boost happiness in the present." I have to agree with her on this one. I love watching my children look over the family scrapbooks. They smile and laugh.

I was so inspired to keep scrappin' when I read this!

Gretchin Rubin also researched common interests amongst friends. She discovered that, "each common interest between people boosts the chances of a lasting relationship and also brings about a 2 percent increase in life satisfaction."

In other words, you, my scrappy/bloggy friends DO make me feel happy!
