Erica's Cricut Craft Room Blog Hop

WELCOME! My name is Tracey. Today I am one of the stops in...

October's My Cricut Craft Room's Blog Hop

You should have started at http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com/ if not please start at the beginning

Welcome to My Cricut Craft Room's October's Blog Hop
Collectively the design team and guest designers have made some amazing and special projects to share with you... over 60 projects are on this hop, but it is in less than 20 stops. .

All of the stops along the hop are featuring at least two projects made with Cricut machines. I love using my Cricut along with my Gypsy or the Cricut Craft Room to manipulate images. My favourite thing is making logos or just changing the cuts to suit my photos.

I started this layout by googling images of Mary Poppins. I was hoping to cut her silhouette flying in the sky with her umbrella but then I came across a movie poster and the font looked easy to duplicate.

I used Cricut Craft Room Basics to create this title. The cityscape is from Plantin Schoolbook. The umbrella is a cut from Paperdoll Dress Up.

For this layout, a created the game spinner by cutting out the coloured circles and hand cutting them into pie shapes. I then found an arrow shape and added a brad. I wanted to cut out something that represented our favourite games. I did a Google image search and realized that Skip-Bo cards would be easy to design. I used Cricut Craft Room Basics and Cuttin' Up to create the playing cards. I am very new to using the Cricut Craft Room and am enjoying how easy it is to view all of your layered designs at once and how you can change the color.

I love how they turned out!

Erica invited all of the bloggers involved to also post two older projects. I chose two creations that represent the type of things I love to design. If you would like more info on them you can check out my post with the label "minion" and the post with the label "Core'dinations creative frenzy".

Mail slot to measure the thickness of cards

All week I have been driving with a card to be mailed on the dash of my car. I wanted to pop by a post office to see if I needed extra postage due to it being a bit thick. I often run into this trouble with any embellishments I add, such as ribbon, pop dots, brads etc. The lovely lady at the post office has explained to me that the extra postage will ensure that my card does not get ripped in the sorting machine.

Last night, I realized I should make my own measuring slot based on the dimensions set by Canada Post.

This was such a quick project! I should have made one years ago. (I could have avoided my ribbon issue with the christmas cards of 2011. Lol.)

I used my Gypsy to create the slot but you could easily just use a paper trimmer. All prices and dimensions are on the Canada Post website and United States Postal Service website. Of course, while I was using the Gypsy, I figured it would be cute to recreate the Canada Post logo. The mailbox is from the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge. I would use chipboard to make a slot or mat cardstock multiple times.

When I measured the card, it slid right through the slot. No extra postage needed!

Have a great day!

At the Ball Park

What is a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon? It could be cheering on a baseball team. Even better with tickets won by my daughter and her colouring skills. We had a wonderful time with concession goodies included in her prize package.

I think this is the first time I have scrapped anything baseball. I had to even pick up this baseball paper, knowing that I had this pictures.
Have a wonderful day!!

Speedy Recovery with Mickey

A friend (who is a big Mickey fan) has just had surgery. I love how this card turned out for her.

I used the Mickey and Friends cartridge and the sentiment is from the Everyday Pop Up Cards cartridge.

You rock - You rule

This layout is inspired by my son's favourite shirt.

I am entering this layout at Paper Playtime. This is my first crack at this challenge site.

I used my Gypsy to make a rock by welding ovals, circles and a triangle. I added arms by welding the letter "I" from George to the shapes and the feet are from PDDU. The thumbs up is actually Mickey's glove from Mickey and friends. The faces are from Create A Critter.

The font is Printing Press. This was my first cut with this cartridge and I had trouble getting the letters straight so I guess I will need to practice with that one.

Missed Mr. Linky

Here is my card anyways. I made this card for a baby meet and greet. The party was last night but I stayed so late, I missed the posting deadline. Oops...

All cuts are from Mickey and Friends. I adjusted the length of the "Mickey" cloud on my Gypsy to make it look a little more like the sketch and unlinked the aspect ratio. The patterned paper is even a Mickey print.

Disney Challenge

I found a Disney challenge last week that I couldn't pass up. The challenge was to create a project with some type of Disney aspect. To read about it, click here. I have been busy putting all of my Disney World layouts into albums. When I put together my 2006 album, I realized that I was missing an intro page to Magic Kingdom. So I sat down with my Gypsy and designed this...

I really intended an making an intro page but I just got too carried away with welding Mickey heads onto everything. My kids truly love searching high and low for hidden Mickeys and would often spot ones that I hadn't even noticed.
